Donald Trump, the president of Ameica, has announced that he will ban TikTok, which is a Chinese-owned video-sharing app, in America. He told the reporters that TikTok could be used to collect the personal data of Americans, and will share the data with Chinese goverment.
But, how do you protect your privacy before TikTok is banned in America? And is TikTok the only one app which collect your personal data?
How to protect your privacy when using TikTok?
Turn of the setting in “Privacy and Safety”
Click the word “Me” at the bottom of the screen, and then click the hamburger icon at the top right of the screen, and you will see a list of options, then click “Privacy and Safety”.
The default setting of first two options is off if you have never turn it on, but if you scroll down, you will find tha the default setting is “Everyone” for most of these, and you can change the option if you want to protect your privacy.
Use a VPN
A VPN ( Virtual Private Network ) will encrypt all the data when transmitted to the Internet, and VPN can prevent TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Google and even your ISP (Internet Service Provider) from tracking you and getting your personal information. A reliable VPN will use a bank-grade VPN security to protect your privacy, and all the social medium such as TikTok, Facebook and Twtitter can not track your path on the internet and of course they can not get your information.
And a relibale VPN can even protect your information from hackers, the hackers can only get the IP address belong to the VPN server rahter than your real IP address.
